Creating a Project
Learn how to create a new project in your workspace.
A project starts empty and private. You fill it with documents and decide who can see it later.
Create a project
- On your workspace Overview (or the projects list), select Create project.
- In Project name, enter a display name.
- (Optional) In Short description, enter a summary that helps teammates spot the right project.
- (Optional) In Alias, enter a URL-friendly identifier, or leave it empty to auto-generate one.
- Select Create project.
Your new project opens on its Overview, ready for documents. It stays Private until you change the access level.
Project fields
Name sets the label across the workspace and on any public URL. Up to 100 characters. Keep it descriptive: DundlerOS API, Warehouse Service, Engineering Handbook.
Description is an optional summary shown on project cards, up to 500 characters.
Alias is an optional URL-friendly identifier — letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores, up to 100 characters. Meldoc uses it for public URLs, CLI sync, and internal references. It must be unique across all of Meldoc. Examples: dundler-api, warehouse-service, onboarding-2026.
Tip: If you plan to share publicly, pick an alias you’re happy to keep. Changing it later breaks existing links.
Plan limits
Your workspace plan limits how many projects you can create. Free is the entry plan; paid plans (Pro, Enterprise) raise or remove the limit. See your current allowance under Settings → Plan & Billing → Limits & Usage.
To create more, upgrade your plan or delete projects you don’t need.
