Workspace Settings
Workspace settings let you configure how your workspace looks and behaves — name, timezone, date format, and more. Only Admins can access these settings.
To open settings, click Settings in the sidebar. The settings sidebar includes:
General — Workspace name, timezone, date format, glossary edit access, and export.
Team — Add, remove, and manage roles for your team.
Integration Tokens — CLI and MCP tokens for connecting external tools.
AI Provider — Configure which AI provider powers features like search and Ask AI.
Audit Log — Full history of who did what and when.
Webhooks — Send HTTPS notifications to external services when documents, projects, members, or glossary entries change (Admins only).
Plans & Billing — Your subscription, usage, and upgrade options.
Danger zone — Delete your workspace (Owner only).
General
Workspace name
Change your workspace name anytime — update the Workspace Name field and click Save Changes.
Timezone
The timezone controls how dates and timestamps appear across the workspace — in the audit log, activity feeds, and document metadata. Pick the timezone where most of your team operates.
Date format
Choose how dates are displayed:
| Format | Example |
|---|---|
MM/DD/YYYY |
12/31/2024 |
DD/MM/YYYY |
31/12/2024 |
YYYY-MM-DD |
2024-12-31 |
Tip: If your team works across regions,
YYYY-MM-DDis the least ambiguous — and it sorts correctly in file names.
Agent instructions
Agent instructions tell an AI assistant where it ought to write, before it writes anything. They are advisory: nothing here refuses an edit, and they are not a permission setting.
There are two levels, and they do different jobs.
The workspace field is the map. “Contract facts live in the backend project, product intent in the product one” is a sentence about several projects at once — no single project can state it. Most of the value comes from filling in this one field rather than every project’s. Up to 2000 characters.
A project’s field is a local exception, and only that: “we do not describe UI behaviour here, that lives in the product project.” General rules are inherited from the workspace and should not be repeated. Up to 500 characters. It is on the project’s Settings page, not here.
Both travel to the assistant separately, each labelled with its level — Meldoc never merges them into one string. So it is fine for a project to add a rule the workspace did not anticipate; the assistant reads “the workspace says this, the project says that” and can tell them apart.
Keep in mind: This is not a second description. A description tells a person scanning a list what a project is; instructions tell an assistant what may be written there and where to go otherwise. Meldoc never substitutes one for the other, so an empty instructions field stays visibly empty rather than quietly falling back.
Glossary
Control who can create, edit, and delete glossary terms across the workspace. Set Edit Access to All Members or Admins Only.
Workspace Export
Download every document in your workspace as a ZIP of Markdown files. Click Export as Markdown to start. Archives stay available for 7 days.
Danger zone
Only the workspace Owner can see this section. Deleting a workspace permanently removes all its projects, documents, and data. This action cannot be undone.
- In the settings sidebar, select Danger zone
- Click Delete Workspace
- Type the workspace name to confirm (this enables the confirm button)
- Click Delete Workspace
